2026 CDXC AGM – Membership Secretary’s Report

There was a slight fall in the Club’s membership during the period 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026. At the end of the period, membership numbers were as follows (with comparative 2025 figures given in brackets):

Total = 674 (683) Overseas = 125 (133) UK = 543 (543) Complimentary = 6 (7)

This represents a net reduction of 9 members. Of the UK members, 467 choose to receive a printed/posted Digest, and of Overseas members, 73 receive a printed/posted Digest.

In the 12 month period, the club welcomed 63 new or rejoining members, and 13 members became SK (see below). Of the members who left CDXC, 17 members were kind enough to let me know they were not renewing, and to give me their reasons, most of which talked about taking a break from the hobby, or downsizing.

The club migrated from the former “WildApricot” membership system to the new “PMPro” membership system on 29 August 2025, when 707 records were transferred onto the new system. Some of these were “test” records. I am grateful for the work done by club member, John Warburton, G4IRN in ensuring a smooth transfer of membership records.

Coupled with the change of membership management system, was the release of a new-look website. Website development continues, and it appears to be attractive and informative to visitors, and is encouraging visitors to join. Club member, Stuart Heathcock, F4VRL/M1SMH has been instrumental in ensuring a good look to the new website, and the club is grateful for his work and enthusiasm for this.

The various social media platforms, such as the Reflector, Facebook and Slack allow members to interact, I would encourage all our “experienced” members to share their knowledge and tips with newer members, who may well have joined to learn and benefit from their experience.

The club has attended several radio rallies during the year, and was in the Special Interest Groups room at the RSGB Convention. This keeps the club’s visibility up and, along with the CDXC Convention, is a good way of maintaining contact with the membership. Thank you to all members who assisted in staffing the tables at these events.

We record the passing of the following CDXC members, and the club sends condolences to their families, Nigel Perkins G4EJW, Mike Shortland G0EFO, Chris Burbanks G3SJJ, Derrick Webber G3LHJ, Bob Whelan G3PJT, Bert Van den Berg PA3GIO, David Waterworth G4HNF, Colin Thomas G3PSM, Steve Rosbottom G0JEH, and David Plumridge G3KMG.

73, Chris, G4FZN
Membership Secretary
